Beagle

Breed history
Its natural origins remain somewhat vague. This hound has existed since Antiquity. Presumably originating in the United Kingdom, this breed would result from the crossing between the Harrier and other common British dog breeds. Nevertheless, France claims the origin of the Beagle claiming that which is descended from French hounds that were introduced to Britain.

Thus, the Beagle is ideal for hunters who appreciate its agility and speed. Moreover, in the 19th century, it was favored for hare hunting across the Channel.

Its breed is clearly defined at the end of the 19th century in Great Britain. However, it was threatened with extinction between the 2 World Wars before it experienced a resurgence, particularly by its success across the Atlantic, whether in the United States or Canada. Thus, for many years, the Beagle has been considered one of the ten favorite dogs of Americans.
