Marans hen

Behavior and character
Marans chickens are pretty affectionate and calm. They are not afraid of humans and have good contact with other animals. They will be pleased even in a barnyard populated by gallinaceans or other animals. Be aware, however, that if you are breeding Featherfoot Marans with featherless breeds and there is feather pecking in your coop, the different species may eventually pluck the feathers from your Marans’ tarsi. It can be excruciating and even cause them to bleed. Make sure you have enough space in your enclosure to avoid these behaviors.
